"I can still remember the day I walked into a North Hollywood liquor store in the spring of 1993. It was a Wednesday morning, and I wanted to play my 10 quick picks for the 7 million dollar Super Lotto draw that evening. The "well dressed" gentleman in front of me pulled out a clear envelope containing $100.00 worth of play slips and handed them to the clerk. As he was putting his tickets away, I noticed that they were tickets for a lotto game called the California Daily 3. What a dummy, I thought. If I had a hundred dollars, I'd buy a hundred quick picks for Super Lotto to win a million dollars. After the well-dressed gentleman left the store the clerk explained that the Daily 3 was a game that involved picking 3 winning draw numbers correctly and winners would get $500 for choosing the numbers in the correct order. Who would want to waste a hundred dollars on a game that only pays $500.00 for a win I asked. The clerk replied...how about cashing ten winning tickets for $500 each?
